Implementing energy efficiency measures in high temperature protected cropping
A half-day GrowSave workshop led by Farm Energy Centre, which provided growers with an interactive forum on the practical implementation of energy efficiency measures in high temperature protected cropping.
With a focus on energy intensive production, the workshop was of particular interest to nurseries producing crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, aubergines, poinsettia, begonias, orchids and pot chrysanthemums.
The workshop programme:
- Energy efficiency today, tools and technologies for tomorrow
- Barriers to uptake
- Energy clinic (where growers were encouraged to bring issues for discussion), questions and case studies
- Summary and action points
- Thermal screens
- Temperature integration
- Humidity control
- CO2 enrichment
- Renewable technologies
- Ducted air systems
