A nation that can't control its energy sources can't control its future.Barack Obama
Continued losses observed on both electricity and gas
Both electricity and gas prices reduced slightly last week because, despite the withdrawals to cover weather changes and increased usage, liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage levels remain at above 90%. This has been assisted by continued LNG deliveries and December 2019 is looking like another bumper import month. A strengthening Sterling following the Conservative victory in the UK General Election has both electricity and gas prices pointing downwards in the short term. However, there may be some volatility based around temperature forecasts, a surge in carbon markets and impending sign-off on the initial US-China trade deal likely to see gains as prices persist at a four year low.
