Market volatility expected over the next few weeks
Electricity and gas exhibited volatility last week with surges in the carbon price being offset by the continued influx of Liquefied Natural Gas. The expectation is that the volatility will continue this week as the 12 December General Election approaches and the impact that Brexit may have. Brexit aside, upside pressure could come from the carbon market and the arrival of the new EU Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, may also impact the market as she looks to tighten climate change policy.
