Strong liquefied natural gas stocks help keep prices stable
Last week both gas and electricity have had marginal decreases with liquefied natural gas stock for both the short and mid term remaining healthy. The construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline is also contributing to driving prices lower. Carbon markets have exhibited gains this week and much uncertainty surrounds the cost of the UK’s carbon permit after Brexit. This has already had an impact on prices for Summer 2020 with the market prices jumping 2%. With Brexit proceedings making way for general election campaigning, the carbon price and long range weather forecasts will likely be the main drivers for forecasting electricity prices going forward.
